Just when I thought I had all of the new minimalist footwear developments covered in my previous post, I discovered this video. Looks like Golite also wants a piece of the action (whether or not these shoes will actually qualify as minimalist remains to be seen):

Thanks for sharing!
They're putting some thought into how to actually add value, at least. I could see how a shoe like that would be really valuable to an ultra runner.
I'll give them credit for
I'll give them credit for innovation, but those aren't minimalist in my book. As with any new product development, a few companies will get it just right, and there will be many others who model the idea behind the product, but don't deliver the actual value.
I am not ready to discount
I am not ready to discount the shoe just yet. For cold weather use, I am looking for a shoe that has insulation under foot since that is the area that gets coldest first. My ideal cold weather shoe would be completely flat, light-weight, no arch support, flexible, quick drying, ample toe room, and insulated underneath. The problem is that the majority of shoes with insulation under foot also have a raised heel and arch support. The video seems to indicate that these are completely flat, and neutral (no motion control) while still having insulation (foam). There may be some potential lurking there, but it is hard to tell from just watching the video.
