Champs-de-Mars

It's late on a Wednesday afternoon. I'm supposed to be cooking supper (truth be told). Damien just got in from an afternoon of skiing with a neighbor.

This is one of the reasons we a) brought Damien home and b) moved to this beautiful, snowy area. Both mean that in the middle of the week Damien (or the whole family for that matter) can go skiing in the mountains. Incidently, this is also why we live in a small house. Lower living costs give us a bit more wiggle room in terms of time and freedom for doing the things we love.

Last weekend, on our weekly ski day, we went the same place Damien visited today.

Champs-de-Mars. A very popular local backcountry ski location in the Chic Choc mountains.

Apparently, we had better powder on our ski day, which was great because the kids are still just learning how to backcountry ski.

This weekend coming up is Laurent's birthday and instead of our usual day of backcountry skiing the boy has requested a telemark lesson at the ski hill as a birthday gift.

I think it's official. We are a ski family.
