The Two Sides to Spring

We went for an overnight backpacking trip this weekend. The weather was a warm, sunny, 55 F spring day on the way in, and a chilly, wet, snowing, 35 F spring day on the way out. The contrast between the two days was both beautiful and startling.

What follows is a series of before and after photos taken from approximately the same locations on the trail. One photo on the way in, and one photo on the way out...

Mom, we were absolutely warm enough. You know me, I don't do cold.

We anticipated rain for the hike out so appreciated the snow which is less wet.
