We had our first camping trip of the season this past weekend. The start of a summer of hiking, camping and a date set for our first time backpacking. Ah... this is going to be good.
So much about this past weekend was great. All the food Damien prepared and cooked - I love this man! Sleeping on my comfier than comfy sleeping mat in my super-fluffy down sleeping bag (I love this part of camping more than anything). Playing in, walking over and through the waterfalls, rivers, ponds and streams. And having our first real experience of hiking in the rain and then the rain stopping and the sun coming out as we reached this beautiful view. It was spectacular.
And showering in the woods was something else I tell you. Not exactly something I relish doing except to say "I've showered naked in the woods". And let me tell you warm clothes, a hot supper and campfire feel like heaven when you're cleaned up after a day outdoors.
Lots of good memories and lessons learned from this trip. We are definitely heading back to this area, Crawford Notch State Park, and highly recommend it as a camping, hiking, adventure and outdoor vacation area. You can find more photos over at FIMBY.
