Backpacking to the Ski Lodge, Camden, ME

Last weekend was our 3rd annual trip to the ski lodge at Camden Hills State Park. The trip has grown every year:

  • The first year was just our family and Renee's parents. This trip was also our first ever backpacking trip as a family.
  • The second year we added our friends the Siffermans (who were pregnant at the time) to the group. John wrote a nice post about the trip on his blog, and made a short video to go along with it.
  • This year the Siffermans came along with their new baby, and another family was also added to the mix. The group, now totaling 14 included: 2 grandparents, 6 parents, 6 kids (ages 6 months, 4, 6, 8, 9 & 11), and one dog.

Activities included backpacking, eating, sleeping, snowshoeing, skiing, sledding, snowball fights, and cards by candlelight. This was by far the best trip yet. For more photos on the trip, make sure you check out Renee's post on FIMBY.

Question: If we were to organize a multi-day group backpacking trip in either the winter or the summer and open it up to the public, would you be interested in joining us? Let us know in the comments, or contact us directly.

Hi guys, Looks like a great

Hi guys,

Looks like a great trip. I can't convince Marisa to snow camp (she has Reynaurds) but a cabin might work. Long drive though!!

If you ever make it over here, let us know, and we'll organise a trip on this side of the pacific.

wonderful winter fun

As one of the grandparents who joined the above mix, this was absolutely the best winter weekend fun we've had in a long time. So much snow to play in, a compatible blend of people (especially 3 special grandkids), healthy and hearty amounts of food, sunshine and blue sky - a well-organized trip. thanks, Damien
