Not all trails are beautiful journeys over tumbling stone, bubbling brooks and mossy slopes. Some are downright boring and offer an experience that leaves much to be desired. Take this past weekend's hike for example.
We wanted to find a trail relatively close to home, under 5 miles in length, something we hadn't done before and with a good view from the top. Damien did his best in picking a hike, I don't blame him. I know he wouldn't of picked this hike if he knew we would be walking up a fire road the whole way, that the view at top would be obscured by a huge cell tower and the summit would be littered with broken bottles - yuck!
But sometimes this happens and you have to choose to find the beauty in the details. As much as I love a gorgeous landscape, not all outdoor adventures offer that. But there is almost always beauty in the details, if you just look close enough.
